Subject: ASSC: AFTSD/ASSC-LV (part 2) From: enigma2@pacbell.net (Enigma) Date: Tue, 03 Dec 1996 05:37:11 GMT After a long Thursday morning manning our booth at COMDEX, then rushing out to meet the IS director at a major hotel casino, I was heading back to my hotel. My SO had flown into town and had danced at Little Darlings and Showgirls, but tonite was just for us. We had planned to dine at the Mirage and I was going to be back by 6. It had started to rain before my last appointment, and by the time I started to head back, it was getting worse. I stayed off the strip, knowing that the side streets parrallel to LV Blvd. would be faster. Highland, South of Sahara turns by the Tally-Ho into Western. As I took the corner I ran into a body of water that looked like when Charlton Heston told God to drown the Egyptians. A Jeep 4x4 in front of me with water up to his hubs sputtered and died. As my rental Chevy Cavalier made sounds resembling a chicken choking, I looked around for high ground. As I gazed to my left, what should I see but Cheetahs and those red lips on the sign, beckoning me to higher ground and safety! With a prayer and my foot on the accelerator, I gunned the peddle and at flank speed, made it to the parking lot. At the door dancers and customers weree watching the show on the street as the rain increases. The water was soon up to my wheels in the parking lot, the swing shift dancers couldn't get to the club, the day shift couldn't go home, and the customers without an ATM card were running out of money. To top it off, water was now coming through the roof and streaming down one of the brass poles on stage. After a couple of drinks and numerous trips to the door to see if the deluge has abated, I realized that I had to call my lady at the hotel and tell her I couldn'tt make it back for dinner, and that I was trapped in a strip club because of a flash flood. Three hours, many drinks, and a couple of laps later, I finally made it back to the hotel. My lady had given up on the Mirage and ordered room service. Thankfully she laughed at what had happened. Being in the business, she understood, hugged me and proceeded to give me a series of private lap dances that even put even Cheetahs to shame. enigma
